Heavy handed tactics continue to run rampant in the aftermath of 9/11. Today FoxNews reports that cameraman Gregg Gursky was confronted by Pentagon Police while taping a Virginia State Police stop along a highway that runs alongside the Pentagon. Gursky was capturing on film what turned out to be a stop of an Iranian man by the state officers.

Pentagon Police demanded Gursky turn-over the tape immediately. After refusing, Gursky was threatened with arrest and cuffed. Pentagon Police then confiscated the tape. After taking the video, the officers decided against arresting the cameraman and he was released. Sadly, the Pentagon still has the tape more than 24 hours after the incident.

Pentagon Spokeswoman, Victoria Clarke has stated that the tape, "should be back any minute now," but as of this writing, that has not occurred.

Just another example of your government at work...

In a case pitting our governmental rhetoric machine against the general populace, Solicitor General Theodore Olson recently argued that the government has a fundamental need to lie to the public.

"It's easy to imagine an infinite number of situations where the government might legitimately give out false information," stated Olson on Monday.

While the dubious and as of yet undeclared "War on Terror" continues to proceed further, our government is taking step by incremental step to insure that they are no longer beholded to the public that elected them. I find it hard to fathom that government has a compelling interest in directly and intentionally deceiving the public. I find it harder to accept that one of the highest ranking governmental officials in the Bush White House could argue this point to the Supreme Court with a straight face.

Though I will acknowledge that in times of war information may be slow in coming, I find it abhorrent that our governmental officials are asking the Supreme Court for a waiver to boldly lie to and directly mislead the American Public. This horrible policy flies in the face of the freedom of information we have a right to expect from our public officials regardless of who gets egg on their face.

An overbearing state that has interests that it believes are contrary to the public good, should stop exercising those interests or at least be big enough to admit to the actions they are taking in the name of citizenry.

Okay, normally I would not post this inane drivel, but I feel compelled. I hate the DMV. The ridiculous amount they charge to register my vehicle is insane. Then, due to the fact that I am ridiculously bad with mailing things off promptly, (the reason I pay all bills online....) I get whacked with an additional 60% late fee..... SIXTY percent! Are you kidding? I'm 30 days late and the government gets interest that is above and beyond all reason. Where the hell does my state get off raping me for an additional 60%. Fucking rip-off.... Talk about gouging. What's even more fun, these asses always have to request that I find my most recent insurance documentation so I can mail that away to them as well. Hello, government inefficiency bureau. I have insurance, but I conduct all transactions online so I don't have to do this bullshit messy paper transaction crap. Now you make me look around for documentstion. Make a copy when I find it. Go buy some envelopes. Get a stamp. And mail this to you. Only to find out you want more cash. Well, Fuck You DMV. I hate the ungodly high fees you charge simply to let me "Register" my car. And why the hell do I have to register anyway? I told you I owned it last year, so logic would dictate that I still do unless someone else registers it in the meantime. Wow! Isn't that fucking brilliant. Try using that policy and maybe you can get your greedy little hands out of my pockets.

How is it that our worldly Presdent W is "Plenty Hot" regarding the INS issuance of student visas for 2 or the 9/11 hijackers, but he has no comments except a hush-hush blessing for last week's amnesty bill that will eventually naturalize somewhere between 1 and 3 million illegal immigrants now residing in the US. I couldn't care less as I am generally of the libertarian bent, but nonetheless, the posturing that you can be angry about an INS screw-up but bless permanantly allowing millions of illegals citizenship is absolutely inane. If this contradiction doesn't strike the Commander in Chief as at least paradoxical, I cannot begin to think what might.

Well, I think I'll now actually begin to add moderately relevant content to this. Hopefully, it is somewhat worthwhile, but please note, I intend to do this for a "quasi-anthropological" purpose as much as I intend it to be sustantive writing about anything. I hope to write frequently so that I can track my mindset as I continually evolve, learn, and incorporate new knowledge into my schema of the world. Anyway, sorry for the disclaimer, but it should explain any incessant ramblings.

So where am I now? I am trying to launch my new business, trying to keep up with entirely too many freelance clients, and trying to balance the whole of my life while reading a handful of books simeoltaneously.... (sp??). Anyway, I should get caught up shortly, but invariably that never happens.... But then again, this site wasn't up and proceeding for the most part of the first year I had it. Actually, I am supposed to hit Vegas this weekend to drop off my truck to begin the 'Resto' and though I need to get there, I really wanted to knock out some additions to some other sites this weekend. Maybe can figure out a way to work the PC remote or get a laptop that has mor than 32mb of RAM.

Anyway, gotta bail as I have a few million things to attend to. Talk soon,

JM

Kiley is checking this out for the first time. Maybe she'll have a blog soon of her own.

Alright all, finally have completed the bulk of everything I have wanted to do on this site for some time. Hopefully I will now be able to add new and relevant content on more pressing items almost immediately. I hope to keep up with SCOTUS, and a variety of the new laws being discussed rleating to our ongoing War on Terrorism. Check back frequently as I intend to update much more regularly from here out. Cheers again, and talk to you soon.

Hot diggity damn. Everything is on. So the Blogger thing is up and archives seem to be working. I could almost call myself ecstatic. Grand total time to redo the entire site and get all the Blog stuff up: Less than 4 hours. Yippee for me. Now I set up a lil' Amazon store, and can be done for a bit!
